Today I thought I would be wheeled out of the hospital with my brand new baby daughter in my arms, welcome her into her new home, and lay her down in her adorably decorated nursery. Although it didn’t happen quite the way I imagined it, Grant and I were able to end the day with some positive news. Megan is doing great and we have every reason to be hopeful!
Her EEG results came back late today and all was fine, indicating that her brain function is normal and there are no signs of seizures which are indicative of brain swelling . Her blood culture also came back and showed that she her blood’s ability to clot is normal, giving us every hope that whatever bleeding has occurred from the intraventricular hemorrhage is no longer taking place. PRAISE GOD!
Grant and I have felt all of your prayers and trust that God is holding and comforting Megan, even when we can’t. Grant is the writer in the family, so I wish I had better words to express our sincere gratitude for your outpouring of love and support. We are humbled by how quickly and how lovingly our community has surrounded us. We are in awe of God’s goodness in the midst of this challenging time.
Monday has the potential to be a really long day as we go through more testing, particularly another ultrasound that will give us a better look at her brain since the hemorrhage. Please pray that her body will naturally re-absorb any remaining blood and leave no permanent damage. We have felt an overwhelming sense of peace and we know that it is due to your prayers, so we ask that you continue to pray for God to strengthen and comfort us.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and posts, they have given us the strength to endure this uncertain time.
Great news, Ellen and Grant! Thank you both for taking the time to update us on Megan. Of course our prayers continue for all of you. God is good.
Dear Ellen & Grant,
We thought about you guys all day yesterday knowing how hard your coming home was going to be. Thx for the update and the wonderful progress report! Sounds like you will be carrying your precious Megan home to her beautiful nursery very soon. Thank you God!!
You remain in our thoughts and prayers. Stay strong and encouraged in your faith and Ellen, don’t neglect you. Megan is in good hands right now and when she returns to yours, you want to be just as far along in your recovery.
love to all, Debbie and Tom
Dear Ellen and Grant,
I stumble within me to find words of encouragement and comfort when I suspect that right now just seems like too much of the unexpected. It is times like these that we count on God to fill in all the spaces and He does. I am looking forward to the day that you bring your precious Megan home and welcome her to her beautiful new room and home and parents and family and life. I trust that the 10 days that seem like an eternity now will be just a blink as the 3 of you move on. Meanwhile, I will be praying not only for Megan’s good health but for your perseverance and confidence.
Much love to you,
Debbi
Ellen & Grant,
I’m tearing up as I think of how hard it must be for you to go home with Megan still in the hospital, but I KNOW that God is good, He is watching over her in that nursery, and that He is still in the business of doing miracles. I’m praying for her, the doctors, and for you two and your peace of mind. Take good care of yourselves & trust that God wants to shower you with His love & blessings.
I’ll look forward to the day when we can get our babies together!!
Love,
Tracy
Hey Ellen & Grant,
Megan is gorgeous! I am sorry for all you are going through. Y’all in my thoughts and prayers.
Much love,
Kerri Malone
I join the countless offerering praise, thanks and requests to our loving, awesome Heavenly Father for precious Megan wonderfully and fearfully made! Nothing is impossible for God. May your love for Him grow as it does for Megan … her story is already an incredible one and it is only days old. With anticipation and hope we look forward to watching her grow in God’s grace, love and wisdom. Like your dad says, “Expect the unexpected, anticipate miracles, knowing with God all things are possible!”
With Anticipation & Joy,
Charlotte Crawford
So excited that the news is good so far. You all are in our prayers and know everything will continue to improve. She is a precious little girl. May peace and confort surround you. The Croyles
thinking of you guys. amy holck passed this along…
I love y’all so much. I am in awe of your strength and I have no doubt you will fight through this and grow closer to one another and to God as you have in the past. I cannot fathom what you are going through but I know the two of you are faithful and love each other and your little baby Megan more deeply than any of us can imagine. Miracles are and will continue to take place each minute and each passing day. I cannot wait to see the three of you together at home. I love you! Please let me know if there is anything you need at all…and of course I am continuing to pray!
Grant and Ellen-
There are really no words to that will help you at this point. Just know that SO MANY are praying for Megan to heal and remain strong. We are all also praying for you both. Being new parents is such an exciting emotional time. Just know that God is in total control. Honestly, that is what got us through the rough spots. We are so not a part of any of it. The news sounds encouraging and little babies are a lot stronger than we give them credit.
We pray that tomorrow the news is promising and hopeful. Remember how loved you all are and hold each other close during these hard times. It will make you that much stronger.
God bless you all-and remember your dad’s benediction:
“Expect the unexpected, anticipate miracles, knowing with God all things are possible”- this was all over our house at one point of our journey!!! I truly believe it with all my heart.
Love to you
The White Gals (and Kevin)
In times such as these, we realize the power of prayer and faith. Without knowing what is wrong (or if anything is), we see how helpless we are. But regardless our inability to ‘fix’ things, you can be assured that God is with Megan (He never left her)….and that soon (maybe even today), He will bring her home to your love and protection.
We (your LBMC family) will continue to keep Megan, you and Grant in our prayers.
God bless,
Bobbie
We are so happy for you and your family, as we pray for God’s will and of course the best possible outcome for little Megan to be blessed with good health from this point forward in her young life and always.
You are in our hearts and our prayers. May you feel the love and support that will never let you go!
Grant/ Ellen:
I am sure you are surrounded by family and friends and are very well taken care of, but I still want to let you know that if you need anything from me, please do not hesitate to ask.

Ellen and Grant,
We are praying for Megan and for you two. I know you have had a tough time even getting to this point. I pray God will heal Megan completely and will hold you two so tightly in His arms that you almost feel it physically.
Blessings,
LaNoe
Hi Grant and Ellen, I am unsure if you remember me – I met you both at Carin’s B-day party at Trulucks – I am Carin’s BF from College.
Anyway I want you guys to know I am thinking about you and praying for sweet Megan!
Praying for all three of you right this minute. May God bless you and keep you. May you feel His love, care, and protection. May Megan be healed in His name.
PRAISE GOD for Megan and for her good health!! He has been so abundant in healing Megan and in pouring out peace and comfort to you. May you soon be able to enjoy Megan at home and the amazing journey that is parenthood.
